This is such a beautiful and heartbreaking story about your Dad and family Joe. Your life has been truly blessed due to a Dad willing to welcome you and your siblings as his own. It is very difficult to watch a loved one suffer with Dementia and Alzheimer's. They are very cruel diseases, that no one deserves. I watched my Mother go through this. My siblings and I watched her lose her mind, and lose all sense of reality. We would correct her when she talked about doing things with my Dad, even though he had passed away, and correct her on other things. It confused and angered her more. I told my siblings we needed to avoid a topic or agree with her, so it gave her short term peace. This did help her a great deal through the remainder of her time with us. I hope you are able to visit him a time or two, before he leaves this earth. Thank you for sharing this with us. May God bless you and your family my friend. And Happy Birthday! 🎉🥳🙏💞
Beautiful article Joe! My gifts are my daughters, and most likely my only Granddaughter! I love to help them when they need it! I love how you say not to deprive others the joy of giving. I never thought of it that way!
Your story about your Dad touched my heart, as my father in law and Dad both had/have Alzheimer’s. My father in law passed a few years ago, and it was so hard to see him become a shell of the man he once was. My Dad, luckily we still have him at 97, is the same. Hard watching a man who never stopped, now just sit in a chair all day and mostly sleep. He no longer remembers who I am, but loves when we come to visit. But I am blessed to still have him. I know time is limited for that. Thank you for a beautifully written sentiment, and hope you had a very happy birthday!
Thank you for sharing this Laurie! You know exactly what my family is going through and I am thankful for your gifts! Praying God’s continued blessings for you and your family.
BTW-Happy Brithday! I turned 56 on May 31. My youngest son asked me how old I would be on my birthday and he said you're really old when I told him. :)

Absolutely beautiful Joe. ❤️ The Lord has been gracious to give me many gifts and to use them accordingly, and one of them is encouragement.
